The Road To Multiple Streams Of Income: The Art Of Stalling

Dead in the water

As I said, I was dead in the water. Having choked on the “taking action” step of my plans to create lots of mini businesses giving me multiple streams of income.

For some reason or other I decided I would try my hand at blogging.

I’m not really clear on how that thought came about. Hell, I didn’t even know what the hell I wanted to blog about, but figured I knew a bit about programming, a little bit about web design, and could probably make a half assed go at it, you know, “documenting my journey”.

Turns out blogging is kind of hard too, which is why it’s taken nearly a year for me to get even a handful of subscribers (thank you for listening to me, you crazy bastards!).

You see, blogging suffers the same ills as Tim’s theories. You have to be ready to take action. Peel back fear and cast it aside. Just get off your ass, get out there, and take some risks. Connecting with people and making stuff happen is still a choice.

Ahhh, a lesson learned. There’s nothing quite like it.

Creating multiple streams of income isn’t something that you can do overnight and it’s unreasonable to expect that it will. If you really want to create multiple streams of income you have to take action. Act on your ideas. Go with your gut. When opportunities present themselves – follow them up.

For me the avalanche of fear started to fall when I said “yes” to a web design job for a friend.

It was then that I realised the I *can* do this. I can make more money on the side. Having and owning multiple streams of income is possible (I can’t beleive I’d almost given up).

Today I’m working on multiple projects

This website has turned into more of a personal log of stuff I’m figuring out as I go with them.

There are several projects I’m working on currently in various states of play:

eBooks

I have two eBooks on this site, and two others about SugarCRM on my web services website. And believe it or not, they’re actually selling. Although it’s not much, I’ve come to expect that 3 or 4 will sell per month and this is with very little promotion. My most successful eBook to date has been the mini web design business one which brings me to my next project.

Mini Web Design Business

As I said before this kind of kick started my actions. My friend started me off with a website for his painting business which I’ve written about on this blog. I’ve got a few more clients and if you’re interested in my website services you can check out my web services website.

Affliate Income

One of my goals for the first half of this year was to investigate affiliate income. I’ve heard that a lot of people make a decent income promoting Amazon products. I decided that it would be fairly easy to create a computer hardware reviews website. I’ve made a little bit on this, but nothing to write home about. Still working on the marketing for this one and I’m not sure how to progress with it, but the good news is I know more about affiliate income than ever before.

eCourse

This project is still under wraps which means I’ll be talking about it on this site at some stage in the future. One of the goals of this project is to teach myself about autoresponder lists and how to manage them for income. My plans for this eCourse are to sell premium products to expand on the free course lessons.

A Mystery Project

This project is reeeeally under wraps and I don’t think I’ll speak of it here for some time. I’m working on a business with my wife that we’re hopefull will provide a consistent income if we can approach it professionally and get the marketing right. It’s a local business, something restricted to Australia and I’m not even going to reveal the industry because I’m afraid I’ll jinx it!

Wrap Up

So, thank you very much for sticking around and reading this three part series. This website has certainly evolved over the last year and a half and now that I’m writing about some of these projects and what I do with them, things are looking brighter and brighter.

I don’t post every day, because every day I don’t have something worthwhile to report or impart. Creating multiple streams of income isn’t easy (contrary to how it might sound on other sites and in books) .. it kind of takes more than one day’s work!

The important thing is to keep moving and keep trying things out, failing, and then hopefully as I’ve found succeeding. I’m finally moving past the stage of stalling and goddammit, it feels good.

This is the third and final part of a three part series on my explorations of multiple streams of income. Click here to read the first part of this series. And here’s the second part.
