Friday Roundup: A Wascally WordPressy Week

A Week In Review

This week saw the kick off of my first series. The WordPress related posts were starting to inter-relate and I thought it would be a fantastic time to put some sort of structure in place.

I’m planning on talking through some beginner type things first and then move onto more advance topics as I progress. I’ve got some great ideas in the pipeline so stay tuned to the Working With WordPress series.

This week saw quite a few interesting articles:

I was going through the typical plugins that I setup in WordPress all the time and decided to make a list out of them! These are just some of the typical plugins that I install frequently, and just to be extra handy, I categorized them into what plugins are really necessary for which kinds of websites (blogs, static, etc).

One of the things that holds people back when it comes to adding a blog to their small business website is the theme. It can take alot of design time to get it right. But what if you could make do with a theme that is generic for the mean time? Here are 7 sexy looking business themes that don’t break the budget. Because they’re free!

On the back of the previous post (and just because it was looking like 7 was going to be a theme this week), I decided to round up 11 of the best free development ready WordPress themes that are ripe for customization.

A serious question was plaguing me. If I’m writing about internet business for programmers, what kind of business should they be looking at? Here are some helpful hints and things to help you narrow down the field.

Continuing the WordPress theme for the week, we discussed what to do about choosing a name for your WordPress blog. Definitely something that shouldn’t be overlooked. There are some gems here that would apply for naming all sorts of things including businesses. Worth a read.

Next week on CMOR

Next week is going to be a very twittery week my friends! Twitter fever has gripped the world, and I’m going to talk about how I use it, and how you can use it to better your business and connect with likeminded people.

Until then, have a fantastic weekend!
