Code My Own Road By Reader Request

I’ve notice a lot of traffic has been coming in lately to my posts on the Google Wave Sandbox and Google Wave from people trying to find out more information. This is great because it’s not only giving me a bunch of traffic from Google but I’m also gaining a few links from around the place.

While I love talking about this stuff (as a programmer it’s quite close to my heart when something exciting like this comes along), it’s not quite what I thought would be the focus of this blog.

So how to capitalize on this without loosing sight of the big picture?

I commented on a post over at ProBlogger last week where he was talking about having one blog or many. I’m not really a fan of stretching myself too thin, but I’d be interested in starting a blog about Google Wave. I’ve got a lot to say on the subject, and it seems that just by judging the amount of traffic coming into Code My Own Road on the few simple blog posts I’ve done, that there might be some merit in the idea.

From the brainstorming I’ve done over this topic in the last few weeks, there is plenty to write about, and I really think I could contribute to the community (I think is really important, we don’t need more useless noise). It would also give be a more appropriate place for me to talk about all things Google Wave.

What I’ve learned So Far

The last two months of blogging on this website has given me a lot of insight about what I would like to talk about long term and where I want to take this blog. But as it’s not just my blog but also your blog, I’d love to get some feedback from you guys and what you would like to see too.

Here’s what I think:

I’ve always been complimented on my patience with teaching people new things. I’ve got a knack for finding out about seemingly complex topics, and filtering them into something more understandable. It’s something I actually get a kick out of, and I truly do love sharing new things that I’ve discovered.

It seems silly not sharing the knowledge I have in my head. I know there are  a lot of technical aspects that might be difficult for others to comprehend when they’re first starting out trying to build up a website and a business online and I want to share my thoughts and give some guides on how to do make these things simple to let more people save money by doing it themselves.

What do you think?:

I started a new poll on Code My Own Road this week and I would sincerely like your feedback. It’s about what you the readers would like to see more of on this website and you can find it on the right hand side of your screen as you read this. If you would like to vote I’d be extremely grateful.

So what kinds of posts would you like to see? Do you prefer two or three really great posts instead of a daily dose? Are how to guides and tutorials interesting to you? Or do you like hot tips and lists? Would you like participate in a blog on Google Wave? Vote in the poll on the right hand side and let me know what you think in the comments!
