CMOR Weekender #3 – Sharing is Caring
The CMOR Weekender edition of Code My Own Road. This is a regular column I do on a Saturday (Friday if you’re in the U.S.) where I talk about random interesting stuff that’s come across my plate during the week. Generally it’s off-beat and can sometimes be off-topic from our normal focus of creating multiple streams of income. Think of it as the lighter side of me and Code My Own Road
Sharing Items In Reader
I’ve found a great way to keep track of those things you read online is to mark them as shared in Google Reader. It’s easy to do when you’re reading an article (just press CTRL+S) and it automatically adds it to your list.
Check out my shared items to give you an idea.
I find it’s a great source of inspiration and can readily find ideas for posts. Not to mention great ideas to implement on my websites (I follow a lot of design blogs).
Speaking Of Inspiration
I’m really digging some of the list posts that have been appearing on web design blog 1stWebDesigner. Especially this little beauty on effective blog side bar uses.
When you’re designing a new website suddenly sites like these become invaluable which explains why they’re so popular just doing list post after list post.
Could You Wear Just 6 Pieces Of Clothes For A Whole Month?
I know I couldn’t. But then, come to think about it I probably only wear 5 or 6 different shirts, and a few pairs of pants per week anyway. I just thought this article was enlightening.
Erin Dolan’s website Unclutterer is a great one to follow especially if you’re into little space saving home ideas. I don’t live in an apartment or anything, but I still find it useful.
Last But Not Least
Final thing I wanted to share today was a tiny little article that made me think big time. Somehow Ben Casnocha has a habit of doing that, he’s like a young Seth Godin sometimes.
He posted a little quote by Tim O’Reilly the other day about how to think about money by comparing it to petrol. Pay attention to it, but don’t make it the focus or you’ll miss out on what the world around you has to offer.
Sometimes posts like this serve as a good reminder when you’re working so hard building your empire when you’re not at work. Work-life balance is just as important.
Well, until next time, have a good weekend!
